A serum said to reduce reduce the appearance of under eye darkness

A few months ago, I was in the market an under eye treatment which would help with darkness when I recalled this The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% that I had tried a few years ago.

I quickly looked it up and confirmed this serum is said to reduce the appearance of under eye darkness, pigmentation and of puffiness. Perfect! It’s only $12.70 at most retailers, Adore Beauty and Priceline being the easiest to access.

The serum is a light brown and light texture. The caffeine concentration is relatively high at 5%, supplemented with highly-purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves.

The reason a caffeine solution should work to improve under eye imperfections, is because studies have shown that topical use of it alongside EGCG can help reduce the look of puffiness and of dark circles in the eye contour.

All you do to apply, is lightly massage a small amount onto the eye contour in the evening. The package says to do it morning and night but I noticed that it didn’t sit well under my makeup, and it would often texturise foundation and cause it to pill.

After getting reacquainted with it, I don’t love it. I increasingly believe that The Ordinary products are excellent for beginners who are just starting to play with products and understand what they should deliver. Once you have been in the game for a long time, they seem to over promise and under deliver.

So for that reason, I wouldn’t bother purchasing again, I would however recommend it to someone like my younger sister or anyone who hadn’t tried a product like this before, because they will see improvements.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this post, A serum said to reduce reduce the appearance of under eye darkness.

Until next time,
