This hydrating moisturiser is clinically proven to be suitable for sensitive, eczema prone skin and in my opinion, is the best all-over moisturiser for eczema-prone skin by far.

Firstly, let me explain what eczema actually is. Eczema is essentially a blanket term that healthcare professionals use to describe a group of conditions that may cause skin to become red, dry and itchy.

Eczema is a part of my everyday life. It limits the amount of hand sanitizer I am able to use, forcing me to opt to wash my hands. This, causes my hands to be really dry and itchy so I have to then moisturise every time I wash my hands. I also have to buy specific laundry detergents to wash my clothes, sheets and towels in, as my skin is very sensitive to fragrance and normal perfumed detergents will set off a bout of eczema. The same goes for perfumes, face and body washes, bath bombs etc.

I also, am very particular about what all-over body moisturisers that I dare use. By that I mean I will ever only use this Aveeno Dermexa moisturising cream. I came across it about 3-4 years ago and have used it exclusively ever since. The product is fragrance free, cortisone free and doesn’t have any lanolins or dyes. It’s formulated with naturally active tripe oat complex and is the only lotion which soothes and hydrated my skin during an eczema breakout or if I’m very itchy.

Let me give you my favourite things about it:

• It reduces redness in my skin and leaves it feeling moisturised. When using other products, my skin will soak up the product and I’ll feel quite dry and sometimes itchy quickly after applying. This product does settle in quickly but I feel moisturised for hours after and don’t feel the need to re-apply.
• It’s not greasy, I hate going to bed or sitting on the couch with a slippery, greasy body. I love that this product is the exact opposite to that and doesn’t leave marks on my furniture.
• It has the Eczema Association stamp of approval. I look for their symbol on almost every product that I buy that can come into contact with my skin, and was the initial selling point in purchasing this for me.

I’ve gone through many, many bottles of this product. I literally keep a big one in my beauty cupboard, in my bedside table and I have a travel size one in my handbag and my work desk. The only time I am without it is when I use a teeny tiny clutch handbag, which is hardly ever for the record. That’s how much I love and believe in this product.

You can find it at standard chemists and even super markets for roughly $21.95 for 206g, so it’s not the cheapest compared to others on the market. However it is, in my opinion, the best and is frequently on sale so I tend to just stock up then!
